Muscat: Maryam Al Zadjali, Oman’s premier artiste and the ex-Chairman of Omani Society of Fine Arts (OSFA), is all set for a unique virtual exhibition of miniature creations created by artistes from around the Arab world in celebration of Oman’s 50th National Day on November 18.

As the chairman of OSFA, a government organization that dedicatedly works to nurture the Omani artistes, Maryam has spearheaded a lot of renovations and restoration projects imparting her unique artistic skills. The miniature exhibition that will be curated by Maryam is based around the town of Imty in Oman and is called Beyond Imty.

Maryam has been working on a first-of-its-kind restoration project in the town of Imty and its 200-years old settlement which is in ruins now. With the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, she started work on the town namely, ‘Immortalizing the Archaeological Moments in Art’, which has been going on for two years now.

Joining hands with Maryam in this unique exhibition is Arab Association for Arts (AAA), whose president Nahwi Rasheed from Saudi Arabia is also a well-known patron of art.

The miniature exhibition which will be a combined cultural, artistic and tourism project is open for entries for members of AAA, who can use any medium to submit one entry on their idea inspired by the images of Imty town. The participants can use any medium to create their artwork including drawings, Arabic calligraphy, or sculptures but the artwork should not exceed the dimension of 30X30 cm. The organisers also encourage the artistes to send videos capturing their efforts at creating the art exhibit, which will be used in the documentary of the project.

The Virtual Art Exhibition will start on November 30 and the entries should be submitted before November 18. An electronic certificate will be given to the artistes in appreciation of their efforts from the organisers.
